Irish Medallion cast in Forton MG

Irish Medallion cast forton by Lori Kiplinger Pandy

I made the mold and mother mold and then cast the final art using Forton MG with fiberglass reinforcement. The art has been patinaed to look like the aged medallion the client photographed in Ireland many years ago.

My new studio is a bit raw and we had frigid temps here in Northern Colorado all week so I found that adversely affected the cure time of all my materials. The best way to work with mold rubbers and Forton is from 60-75 degrees F and the temps at the studio were 58-60 daytime with the heaters going and 38-42 night so things were very slow to set.

The piece is now complete and will be shipping tomorrow.
